I am slowly but surely turning off comments and mentions for my emoticons. I hope this doesn't piss anyone off. Most of the comments are just people trying to make the emoticon in their comments and the mentions are mostly just people using the emoticon. There are a few very cute comments, but my inbox is being overwhelmed by emote comments and useage, most of which don't really say anything, and I can't see when people comment on or mention something that isn't an emoticon.
I'd like to stress that I feel emoticons are an art form and what I say next is in no way meant to be derogatory toward emoticon artists. However, emoticons are not an art form that I consider to be "my art", if that makes sense. I love my emoticons and I am proud of them, but I want to be taken seriously as an artist who draws, paints, and sculpts. I do not, as an example, truly consider myself to be a fractal artist, either, so if I'd made some fractals that were taking over my gallery with attention, for some reason, I'd be stressed about that. It's the same for the emoticons I made. I originally made them to use in chat for myself and my friends. It was fun and challenging and I very much enjoyed it. I don't mind being known as an emoticon artist, but I wish now that I had made a separate account for them, from the start. If I'd had any idea it would get to this point, I certainly would have!
I don't feel any of the people making my emoticons so popular are even watching this account, so if you are, prove me wrong and comment here! I sort of feel used, in that respect, I guess...
If I make anymore emoticons, and it could happen, they will be posted to my emoticon account:
, so if you do watch this account for emotes, you probably want to watch that account, instead.
The future of this account will be for drawings, photography, metalsmithing, ceramics, digital art, and other forms of fine art that I do and am in school to study. Please stay tuned if you're interested in seeing serious fine art, hand made jewelry, ceramics, dolls (NOT the pixel kind), photography, sculpture, etc.
Also, if you know of a way to turn off notifications of favorites for individual deviations, please let me know as that is also driving me mad and keeping me from seeing the stuff I'm interested in. This will save my sanity and keep me from deleting my emoticons in a huff, which I would surely regret. I love you all and hope you are doing well. It will be good to wrangle this account back to what I originally wanted it for.
